Two Arrested in Negev Extortion Case Over Intimate Materials
Two suspects from Ar'ara in the Negev were arrested red-handed while extorting 50,000 shekels from a man under threats to publish sensitive personal materials.
Two suspects in their twenties from the Negev town of Ar'ara in the Negev were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of extorting a man by threatening to publish intimate materials that could harm him.
According to the police investigation, the victim was extorted for 50,000 shekels under threats. Following the report, officers from the Ar'ara police station launched an investigation and worked to bring the suspects to justice.
On Tuesday evening, in a proactive operation, police forces successfully arrested the two suspects "red-handed" as they arrived at the location where they allegedly planned to collect the money demanded from the victim. The two were transferred for further questioning at the Ar'ara station.
Chief Inspector David Apteker, head of the detective unit at the Ar'ara police station, stated: "This was a targeted operation born out of quality investigative and intelligence work by the station's officers. We acted with determination and precise timing to reach the suspects in real-time, prevent the continuation of the extortion, and make the arrest as the suspects arrived to collect the money. We will continue to act decisively against those who attempt to exploit the public through threats and extortion."
