Journalist Nechama Duek's Car Stolen Twice From the Same Street

The same car, the same street, and two thefts more than a year apart. The vehicle of journalist Nechama Duek was stolen in late August, marking the second time since June 2025. The latest theft occurred while Duek was abroad; she received a phone call from the Ituran tracking service informing her that her car was traveling on Route 443. The vehicle was intercepted by police just minutes before the thieves could reach Judea and Samaria, leading to the arrest of a suspect who was subsequently indicted.

The first incident took place in June 2025. Duek noticed her car was missing and notified Ituran. Following the report, the vehicle was located traveling on Route 1. Ituran dispatched the information to the police, who intercepted the car with the suspect inside. The vehicle was later repaired and returned to Duek.

More than a year later, in late August, the exact same car was stolen again from the very same street. This time, however, Duek was out of the country and was unaware of the theft in real time.

According to Duek, while she was vacationing in Greece, she received a call from Ituran asking if she was currently driving her car on Route 443. After she replied that she was in Greece, she was told that her vehicle had likely been stolen and that the details were being forwarded to the police. Law enforcement managed to stop the car at the Rantis checkpoint, just minutes before it would have entered Judea and Samaria. The suspect inside the vehicle was arrested and later indicted.

Eyal Saar, director of Ituran's operational division, stated following the events:

"This is an unusual case where the same vehicle was stolen twice. In both instances, the rapid cooperation between Ituran's enforcement division and police forces enabled the vehicle to be located and returned to its owner within a short time."
