Naftali Bennett, head of the BeYachad party, faced hostile protests and object-throwing during a campaign visit to a restaurant in Bnei Brak.
The incident began when a group of activists and attendees started shouting insults, including the word "antisemitic," during his conversation with yeshiva students. A confrontation also erupted with right-wing activist Mordechai David, who tried to block his path. In response, Bennett addressed the issue of military service exemptions, telling him, "I suggest you enlist quickly, because the moment I am prime minister, you won't receive a shekel from the state.
During the commotion, objects were thrown at Bennett, including a salt shaker that missed the party leader but struck a female staff member. She received initial medical treatment on-site from Magen David Adom personnel and was released. Police officers from the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan station immediately arrested the suspect, who was taken in for questioning.
Bennett was safely escorted from the restaurant by security forces. The BeYachad party stated that the initial discussion was substantive until political activists disrupted it, adding that Bennett thanked the police and emergency forces and intends to continue holding similar meetings across the country.
