A deputy security coordinator of the settlement of Na'aran was detained for questioning after being filmed pointing his weapon at settlers near Jericho. The incident occurred on Thursday, a day after Jewish families moved into homes in the area.

The Judea and Samaria District Police opened an investigation at the Jordan Valley station on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon. Following the interrogation, the suspect was released under restrictive conditions. Authorities received two separate reports regarding the event: one alleging that the deputy coordinator pointed his gun at settlers and security forces, and a second claiming that shots were fired at the scene.

The confrontation followed an initiative by the Nachala movement, backed by the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council, in which Jewish families entered eight properties in the Jericho area. The movement stated that the homes were purchased with private funds during a covert operation.

Investigators are examining the circumstances of the deputy coordinator's arrival. Associates claimed he was dispatched to the scene with a local standby squad following reports of a disturbance. However, the Israel Defense Forces clarified that the individual was not operating on military duty, noting he serves in a security role in a different settlement and held no jurisdiction in the Jericho area.
