Naama Lazimi: "I wish for Yair Golan to be our Minister of Defense"

MK Naama Lazimi spoke on Wednesday with Anat Davidov on the program "Where is the Money" on 103FM, signaling the surprising ambitions of the Democrats party for the day after the elections: "The distribution of positions will be done according to the number of mandates each party receives.

"Based on the long time spent alongside Yair, and knowing that many of our coalition partners think the same, I can say: one of the best security experts in the State of Israel is Major General and former Deputy Chief of Staff of the IDF Yair Golan. I wish for all of us that he will be our Minister of Defense."

"The fact that our side, the liberal side, has political demands or thoughts is not a bad thing; it is important. Our public needs to know that our values will be at the table in the end."

The Finance Committee Dispute

Later, Lazimi addressed the discussions in the Finance Committee regarding the attempt to transfer coalition funds, which she claims was done illegally during the election period. According to her, opposition members were told that Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana signed an emergency clause allowing the meeting to take place, but they did not receive official documentation. Consequently, she and attorney Yifat Solel from the Hiddush organization turned to the court.

"Supreme Court Justice Stein told us to bring findings by the morning, and we did," said Lazimi. Following the submission of materials, the relevant parties were asked to provide a response, and the transfer of funds was delayed.

"These funds are frozen for now, unless someone broke the law. This shows how important it is to fight through parliamentary methods and expose the looting, because in the end, there is a reward for the struggle."

Criticism of Hanoch Milvitsky

Lazimi also sharply attacked the chairman of the Finance Committee, MK Hanoch Milvitsky of the Likud, claiming he bullies committee members and female MKs. "More than once I have seen public servants leave in tears because of how he talks to them. He is a violent person and an inciter; I say this without shame."

She referred to Milvitsky's statement comparing protest activists to Nukhba terrorists: "Calling activists worse than Nukhba is simply inconceivable. It is Holocaust denial to me, because there is no one worse than those who massacred us. If he is ashamed that they funded them, he should not call opponents of the government 'Nukhba' and should go and do some soul-searching."
