Nearly two months after the passing of Mediterranean music legend Ishay Levi, his son Shir Levi returned to the stage. He performed his father's greatest hits and expressed deep gratitude to fans for their support during this difficult time.
Almost two months after his father, Ishay Levi, passed away, his son, Shir Levi, performed tonight (Tuesday) for the first time, dedicating several songs to his father's memory.
"Tonight I am a little more excited than usual; this is my first performance since my dear father passed away. Tonight we will give him the honor he deserves, for the person he was and for the music he created. I want to say thank you to everyone who supported me in the recent period. Thousands of messages, phone calls—it is not something I take for granted. Really, thank you very much."
At the performance, held at Reading 3 in Tel Aviv, the singer performed his own songs alongside his father's greatest hits, including "Rikdi" ("Dance"), "Ahat Ve-Yehida" ("One and Only"), "Taltalim Shchorim" ("Black Curls"), "Rikud Romanti" ("Romantic Dance"), and "Ananim" ("Clouds"), with the audience joining him in song.
Ishay Levi passed away early last June at the age of 63. He was considered one of the greatest and most recognizable voices of Mediterranean music in Israel. Breaking through in the 80s, he became one of the genre's most prominent symbols. His first album, "Hafla Im Ben-Mosh" (1984), was a massive success on cassettes at a time when Eastern music barely received airtime on the radio. Later came hits like "Hine Ba Ha-Yom" ("Here Comes the Day"), "Raya," "Halom" ("Dream"), and "Yaldonet" ("Little Girl"), which established his status as one of the most important singers of his generation.
