From Kyoto to Nahalat Binyamin: Shimon Babou Opens MR. Chaw in Tel Aviv
Shimon Babou, founder of the legendary Kyoto sushi restaurant, has opened MR. Chaw, a vibrant new Japanese bar on Tel Aviv's Nahalat Binyamin street.

Shimon Babou, the veteran culinary figure behind the legendary Kyoto sushi institution in Herzliya, is back with a fresh concept. After closing the doors of his longtime venture, he has launched MR. Chaw, a vibrant Japanese bar located on the bustling Nahalat Binyamin street in Tel Aviv.
Designed with exposed concrete, clean lines, and subtle graphic accents, the new venue puts the focus squarely on the food, craftsmanship, and lively bar atmosphere. The heart of the restaurant is the central bar, where guests can watch their dishes being meticulously prepared while sharing plates and drinks.
The menu features raw fish, creative sushi rolls, and hot teppanyaki dishes. Standouts already making waves online include crispy arare rice topped with tuna and salmon cubes, and a refreshing tuna and salmon tartare served over ice. Other highlights range from salmon rolls with finger lime and mint to the trendy tori katsu.
MR. Chaw is located at 45 Nahalat Binyamin Street, Tel Aviv, open Sunday through Friday from 18:00 (not kosher).
