The Israeli television industry is seeing another behind-the-scenes shift as Avi Trachtenberg concludes his tenure at i24NEWS to join Channel 14. Trachtenberg, who previously worked on the program '19:00 with Sharon Gal', has been appointed as the deputy editor of the show 'The Patriots'.
This move is particularly noteworthy given the professional trajectory of Sharon Gal himself. In January 2025, Gal left Channel 14 to join i24NEWS. His departure followed a high-profile television drama the previous year, during which Gal had attempted to move to Channel 13. At the time, Channel 14 successfully blocked the move, and Gal remained with the network after reaching new terms. Upon joining i24NEWS, Gal launched '19:00 with Sharon Gal', maintaining the same evening time slot he had held previously.
In February 2025, it was reported that Channel 14 had filed a lawsuit against Gal in the Tel Aviv Labor Court, alleging a breach of his employment contract. The network is seeking 1.9 million shekels in damages. The lawsuit centers on an employment agreement that was reportedly extended until 2026 following the collapse of his planned move to Channel 13.
