"My father said it's not a profession, in his perception it doesn't count"
"MasterChef" contestant Haim Cohen is fulfilling himself in the culinary world even outside the show, but the path there was not simple. While preparing the next dish for the judges, the cook shared that in the past he did not receive support from his father, who preferred that he specialize in another field: "He is old-fashioned."
It seems that the kitchen is entirely the comfort zone of "MasterChef" star Haim Cohen, who impresses the judges anew each time. Besides the spectacular dishes he prepares on the show (tonight after the news, Keshet 12), he also realizes his passion for culinary arts in his work as a chef at a high-tech company. Although the choice of field was clear to him, yesterday, Sunday, the reality star shared that it took time until he received full support from his father, who did not connect with the idea at first.
Cohen shared the upheavals he went through in his relationship with his father:
"We have a great relationship, but he is more old-fashioned, from the past, and sometimes it hurts our dialogue. At first, when I wanted to study culinary arts, he told me it's not a profession. In his perception, pastry making doesn't count. But at age 21 you don't see that, you see the conflict and the fight, the fact that he doesn't agree with you on something."
He further recounted that today the situation between him and his father looks different than before:
"Today we are already in understanding and acceptance that everyone does what is good for them and the main thing is the friendship between us. After he saw me on the show, he understood that this is my passion, and gave me his blessing to go study. We have gone through a journey in these five years, and I try to make as much as possible for him — cream puffs are the thing."
