Modi'in Mayor Haim Bibas Urges Broad National Unity Government After Inconclusive Elections
Modi'in Mayor Haim Bibas called for a broad national unity government anchored by Likud and Gadi Eisenkot following inconclusive election results, warning against foreign funding and political extremism.

Haim Bibas, head of the Federation of Local Authorities and Mayor of Modi'in, has called for a broad national unity government following election results that failed to produce a clear victory for either political bloc. Speaking with 103fm, Bibas emphasized that the current political landscape necessitates cooperation rather than polarization.
Addressing recent controversies surrounding alleged foreign Qatari funding aimed at influencing the Arab sector during the election, Bibas backed the stance of Supreme Court Justice Noam Solberg and the Israel Security Agency. He stressed that any external capital deployed to generate domestic chaos demands a thorough investigation and systemic root treatment, warning against foreign destabilization efforts seen globally.
Bibas proposed a unified coalition anchored by the Likud party and Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar! party, incorporating Religious Zionism and ultra-Orthodox factions to form a stable Zionist majority. He argued that extreme factions on both the right and left must either align with moderate governance or remain outside the coalition, asserting that the surge in Arab voter turnout reflects a profound public response to a perceived state of emergency.
Concluding his remarks, Bibas stressed that the mandate distribution demands either a broad national government or another round of elections. He urged political leaders to build mutual trust focusing on core issues including security, the economy, and military conscription, ensuring an equitable framework for all citizens carrying the national burden.
