The conspiracy theories that spread in Argentina after the loss to Spain in the World Cup final reached the home of Facundo Medina as well. The national team defender revealed that even his mother brought up the rumors to him, but he was quick to stop the conversation and clarify that the loss was purely professional.

In a preview clip from an interview he gave to the show of Ferna and Grego, Medina was asked about the conversation with his mother and replied:

"I told her: 'Come on, are you going to get into this too? Stop with the nonsense. Stop bothering me'."

He later said that he had a clear answer for other people who approached him with the claims:

"I tell them: 'You are idiots. Why do you think we went there? We came to play. We want to win like everyone else. Do you know how happy I would have been if we had won? But we lost and you have to accept it'."

Medina emphasized that within the national team, no explanations other than the professional reasons for the loss were ever raised, and in doing so, he joined the remarks made in recent days by the president of the Argentine Football Association Claudio Tapia, coach Lionel Scaloni, and his assistant Roberto Ayala.

This is not the first time the defender has addressed the rumors. After the national team returned to Argentina, he appealed to the fans and asked them not to believe the publications on social media:

"Do not believe this nonsense. You saw in the photos and videos that we were always a cohesive team. We are very sad because of the loss. Some of the players did not even come here because they are angry and sad."

In conclusion, Medina emphasized the bond between the national team players: "When you have people who, beyond being excellent players, are also even better people, it is impossible not to go with them to the end."
