Many think that at this stage it is already too late to book a vacation for August, but in practice, even at the height of the season, excellent opportunities arise, says Tamar Gerzon, CEO of Gulliver. Changes in the availability of flights and hotels sometimes create attractive deals, especially for those who can make a quick decision and be flexible with dates. We recommend checking several destinations and not sticking in advance to a specific departure day. Sometimes a small change of a day or two can significantly lower the price of the vacation and allow you to go abroad even at the last minute.

Gulliver notes that it is important to keep in mind that the chance of finding a worthwhile deal is higher when maintaining flexibility. Departing in the middle of the week, changing the flight date by a day or two, checking several destinations simultaneously, or booking a flight and hotel package can lead to significant savings. Short vacations of three or four nights can also be particularly worthwhile, as they allow for utilizing seats that remain free on flights and in hotels.

Cheap flights in August

Looking at the 'Secret Flights' website, we found some very cheap options for the coming month. It is important to keep in mind that these are base prices, without luggage and sometimes at less convenient times, but they are a good starting point:

The cheapest flight is to Larnaca with Wizz Air on August 17, at a price of 168 dollars round-trip. For up to 250 dollars, we found peak-season flights to Rome and Naples. For up to 300 dollars, there are also options to Paphos, Bratislava, Varna, Sofia, Bucharest, Warsaw, Sicily, Batumi, and more.

Cheap vacation packages in August

Searching on the travel site Gulliver, we found the following:

• Tbilisi, Georgia: August 8–11 at the 5-star Gino Seaside Tbilisi, Trademark Collection By Wyndham, including breakfast and Israir flights — 583$ per person in double occupancy.

• Budapest, Hungary: August 6–10 at the 4-star Leonardo Hotel, including Bluebird flights — 611$ per person in double occupancy.
