Mishel Gerzig: "Rumors about divorce threats were a complete lie that got out of control"
International model Mishel Gerzig sets the record straight regarding rumors about her marriage to Thibaut Courtois. She also opens up about career trade-offs and her recent recognition in the world of high fashion.

Mishel Gerzig landed in Israel for a lightning visit of four particularly intense days for a campaign shoot for the sports brand Zed Sport. While she stands in front of the cameras and spreads radiant smiles, behind the scenes she manages a routine of travel, motherhood, and a relationship with one of the most talked-about goalkeepers in the world, her husband Thibaut Courtois.
"The family was with me for the whole World Cup and we spent the vacation together, so honestly, I really miss my daughter Elle, who stayed in Madrid with Thibaut," Gerzig shared in an interview with mako Celebs from the set. Regarding the World Cup, she added: "It was really crazy. It's hard to digest that it's over, but it was incredibly intense and a huge pleasure. We were a big family, constantly traveling with a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. We all came back with huge jet lag, but it's okay."
Life alongside a football star raises questions about Gerzig's ability to nurture her own career. "I was under the illusion that I could work remotely or even in the USA, but I couldn't combine everything. It was so intense, and that's perfectly fine," she explains.
Despite the difficult period in Spain, Gerzig remains calm: "I hope they sort their things out. In everyday life, we don't feel the tension. We live there, our family is there, and that's it." When asked about antisemitism, she noted: "Not recently. I had experiences in the past where I was excluded from events or lost magazine covers because I'm Israeli, but since then, things have been fine. I hope that trend continues."
Addressing the rumors about divorce threats and a potential Saudi league contract, she said: "We didn't understand where it came from; it started with a random tweet. It was a complete lie, unrelated to reality. Thibaut never received an offer from Saudi Arabia. When it reached official levels, we had to respond because someone didn't do their homework. We understand it's part of our life, but sometimes you have to speak up."
"The secret is a strong relationship," she says. "In the end, it's us in our home. Elle is not yet exposed to this madness, and we want to protect her as much as possible. I hope people will check facts before publishing lies in the future, especially on social media." As for revealing her daughter to the world, she added: "When she wants to. Not until she's 18 plus."
Finally, she commented on being named one of the best-dressed footballers' wives by Vogue: "I was in shock when I saw the notification! It's a huge honor to be on a list with the wives of Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar. It means they notice and love my style. I often combine things not really seen in Europe and wear Israeli designers. My stylist Dora and I created something amazing, and I'm so happy it reached such a high place."
