Dr. Miriam Adelson Launches Tech Integration Program for Druze Youth in Isfiya
Dr. Miriam Adelson inaugurated a pioneering tech integration program for Druze youth in Isfiya named after the late Lt. Col. Mahmoud Khair al-Din, voicing support for female pilots.
Dr. Miriam Adelson participated on Tuesday in the inauguration of a first-of-its-kind program in Isfiya to integrate young people from the Druze community into the high-tech industry, named after the late Lt. Col. Mahmoud Khair al-Din. Adelson stated during the event, "I want to see Druze female soldiers and pilots."
The program was launched in Isfiya to help bridge a significant gap in the tech sector. According to the initiative's founders, currently only about 500 members of the Druze community work in the high-tech industry, out of approximately 150,000 workers in the sector nationwide. The program is designed to assist young people in securing high-tech professions and to promote entrepreneurship in technology and development.
The initiative was founded by Kuftan Halabi, recipient of the Presidential Medal for his activism on behalf of the Druze community. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Mahmoud’s father, Ahmad Khair al-Din, and his brother, Mamdouh Khair al-Din, who remarked, "This program continues Mahmoud’s path of supporting and advancing young people."
Dr. Miriam Adelson opened her remarks by addressing the Khair al-Din family and honoring Mahmoud's legacy.
"I want to start by greeting the family of Lt. Col. Mahmoud Khair al-Din and expressing my appreciation for his legacy and contribution to the security of the country."
Adelson shared that she had specifically requested of Kuftan Halabi that the center bear the name of Mahmoud Khair al-Din rather than the Adelson family name.
"I told Kuftan Halabi to name the place after Mahmoud Khair al-Din, instead of the Adelson name."
Adelson also emphasized the advancement of women within the Druze society.
"I am so glad that this center was established and to see our Druze sisters advancing and studying. I want to see Druze female soldiers and pilots."
Concluding her speech, Adelson congratulated Kuftan Halabi on establishing the center and wished him and the program ongoing success.
