Michal Amdursky on her financial situation: "I couldn't afford it"

Singer and actress Michal Amdursky, the ex-wife of singer Asaf Amdursky, was a guest on the podcast of journalist Ifat Hilleli Avraham. She shared insights into the extensive career she built over the years, the controversial moments that accompanied her performances, and the personal choice she made, which she says affected her trajectory in the entertainment industry.

"When I started, I would go on stage in a bra and sequined panties. My dancers were also in sequined panties, and they were all crazy dancers. People didn't understand what I wanted; they just didn't understand. What Noa Kirel, Anna Zak, and everyone else is doing now was underground in the 90s. I was ahead of my time. On the other hand, I think I am the one who opened the door and put my foot in, even if I didn't open it wide," Amdursky said.

The Israeli star shared that when she became a mother, she decided to step back from her position as a prominent singer for the sake of her family's financial welfare:

"It was heavy for me at some point. The moment the children were born, you reach decisions: you need to buy an apartment, take a mortgage, and take care of extracurricular activities and schools. You realize you need to go for the safe bet and do children's plays. Children's plays — it never ends."

Michal Amdursky explained the dramatic decision that fundamentally affected her life:

"New children are always being born, and this keeps me financially afloat. That is where I was drawn. I admit and confess that my financial comfort, for the sake of my children and my home, stopped me in terms of career. I said to myself: 'Okay, I am not taking money now to invest in another album, or in myself, or in clips.' I couldn't afford it. First of all, the financial welfare of my daughters so I can raise them. At some point, I was drawn in and leaned on this thing that is simply easy and you don't have to fight for it? Yes, I admit it. A mistake? Maybe."
