Actor and content creator Michael Lewis has joined a group of entrepreneurs and reservists in a national initiative known as the "Wrap Israel Project." The initiative involves erecting seven giant Israeli flags at key locations across the country to commemorate the October 7 events, strengthen unity, and preserve national heritage.

The Launch in Nitzani Oz

The first massive flag was raised in August 2026 in Nitzani Oz, near the Brigade 5 monument. The ceremony took place in the presence of President Isaac Herzog, bereaved families, and freed hostage Elkana Bohbot. The engineering specifications of the site are extraordinary:

  • Mast Height: 61 meters, the tallest in the country.

  • Flag Dimensions: 17 by 24 meters, covering 408 square meters.

  • Site Area: Approximately 800 square meters.

The complex cost roughly 1.8 million shekels and was designed as an open space for memorial gatherings, featuring seating areas, lighting, and accessible pathways.

Personal Stories Behind the Initiative

The project was founded by Shlav Eaton, alongside reservists Yan Stadin, Yoav Lazar, Shahar Levi, and Michael Lewis. Stadin, a resident of the Gaza envelope, conceived the idea while evacuated to Eilat after seeing a massive Jordanian flag across the border. Lazar, a company commander who fought in Gaza City and surrounding areas, joined the core team to foster resilience and unity.

The founders plan to complete the installation of the remaining six giant flags nationwide.
