Meta Challenges ChatGPT: A Major Update to Meta AI
Meta has announced new capabilities for Meta AI, enabling task planning, integration with third-party applications, and autonomous task execution. The virtual assistant can now conduct in-depth research and automatically update content based on user needs.
Technology giant Meta, operator of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other messaging platforms, has announced significant updates to Meta AI, the company's smart virtual assistant.
As a reminder, this chatbot functions similarly to the ChatGPT platform, allowing users to engage in dialogue, receive answers to queries, draft text, and generate images from text descriptions.
In an official announcement, Meta's management unveiled a series of new capabilities for Meta AI, powered by the Muse Spark 1.1 model. These features allow the assistant to plan tasks, interact with applications such as email and calendars, and perform actions on behalf of the user.
From now on, Meta AI can execute tasks automatically and continue managing them without the need for repeated instructions. For instance, if a user requests a half-marathon training plan, the system will build the plan, adapt it to the user's schedule, and send weekly updates automatically.
You can also task the assistant with planning events, such as a birthday meal, based on calendar availability. Users can set recurring tasks, such as receiving weekly meal plans, daily calendar summaries, or ongoing updates on specific topics. Meta AI can also identify scheduling conflicts and suggest adjustments accordingly.
Beyond this, Meta's virtual assistant can conduct in-depth research within minutes, gathering information from various web sources—including articles, studies, and public content—and consolidating them into a summary. This information can then be transformed into a ready-made presentation. During the creation of reports or plans, users can adjust the tone, direction, or emphasis in real-time, and the output will update automatically.
As part of this update, Meta AI can now connect to email and calendar accounts (currently supporting Google Workspace) to assist in task planning and provide context-aware information. All assets created by Meta AI, including presentations, work plans, and inspiration boards, are saved in a centralized location, allowing users to revisit, refine, and share their work.
