At the Engineers' Association conference held this week, Meir Malka, a senior engineer at Elta, was re-elected for another term as chairman. Alongside him, Guy Shaashua, an engineer at IAI and chairman of the Chamber of Engineers, was elected as acting chairman of the Association.

In recent years, Malka has been leading an effort to promote the status of engineers in Israel and is working to expand the scope of modern collective agreements, similar to those existing in leading academic institutions, including the Technion, the Weizmann Institute of Science, and the Hebrew University. Upon their election, the two declared their intention to strengthen cooperation between the Engineers' Association and the Chamber of Engineers to better promote the engineering profession and the interests of the engineering community in Israel.

Meir Malka: "We will continue to act with determination to improve the employment conditions of engineers and to promote agreements that will ensure the future of the profession."

Guy Shaashua: "Joining forces between the Engineers' Association and the Chamber of Engineers will allow us to empower the public and professional influence of the engineering community in Israel."
