Maya Wertheimer on the crisis at home: "Very difficult days"
Maya Wertheimer shares the family difficulties of the month of August and reveals the secret she and Asaf Zamir have for daily survival and how they divide tasks at home.
The last days of the summer vacation are known to be a battlefield even for experienced parents. For actress and content creator Maya Wertheimer and her husband, diplomat and former Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo Asaf Zamir, the madness of late summer is no different, except that they have chosen to turn it into a planned operation where humor and sharing the burden are the main weapons.
When asked how they are getting through the last days of the summer vacation, Wertheimer did not try to paint the reality in pink:
"Very difficult days. Very, very difficult. And when Asaf loses it, then I take more responsibility and vice versa. It's like we complement each other, we work as a team. We get under the stretcher, we won't talk about our children, but we remind ourselves of a parent rule: remember, it's not you against each other, it's you against the children!"
The secret of the two, who manage a household alongside busy careers and raising their children (Asia and Noah), lies in the willingness to share the work truly. Wertheimer does not skimp on compliments regarding Zamir's functioning at home and says: "Asafi, he is first of all not just an amazing partner, he is also an active father. Our home is not just equal, on the contrary, Asaf takes on more than necessary...". Zamir, for his part, is quick to keep things in perspective and with characteristic honesty immediately notes: "We have plenty of help".
However, alongside the external help, the daily tasks inside the house remain with the parents. Wertheimer continues to describe Zamir's dedication in the routine and at nights, while he reveals full control even in the most complex arena of modern parenting: "He gets up! (at night after the birth) and not only that, let's say now there are all the WhatsApp groups of all the classes: A, B, C — that's Asaf, Asaf!". Zamir, who navigates calmly between teachers' messages and task descriptions in parent groups, reacts to this with a smile: "Few know!".
The combination of Wertheimer's unfiltered honesty on social networks and Zamir's ability to take an active and central part in the ongoing management of the house sets a healthy and humor-filled couple model. Ultimately, the battle for the summer proves that sometimes the only way to survive August is to simply remember that you are in the same boat and know how to laugh about it together.
