After revealing on Tuesday that she prays every day, actress Maya Wertheimer found herself at the center of an online storm. The matter arose after a follower asked if she believes in the Creator, to which she replied: "I believe with all my heart." The post drew criticism from left-wing activist Maggi Otzari, who wrote on her X account that if she prays, "then let your husband go run for mayor of Bnei Brak."

Otzari is not the only one who spoke out against the actress's words, as she has been under sharp criticism from the left-wing camp for the last 24 hours:

"Which Maya? The one married to the deputy mayor of Tel Aviv who has been pandering to the ultra-Orthodox for a while now, and such a picture could get him a lot of votes?", "What do I care about Maya Wertheimer, who is basically nothing but a Wertheimer?!", "Ugh, well it's clear, their businesses depend on Bibi, the big oligarchs are most afraid of a change in government", "Just when I was sure she couldn't be more unbearable".

On the other hand, many rallied in support of Wertheimer and even spoke out against Otzari:

"What is hurting you? This is the state of the Jews! You don't like it? Fly off to some Muslim country, there's no shortage of them!", "Talking nonsense. Shame on you. To each their own faith. If she had moved to India and become an ascetic? I wonder what your reaction would have been", "How does this hurt you? Where is the liberalism?", "You can be a completely secular person and support all the liberal values of Tel Aviv and still believe in God".

Users also spoke out against the left-wing camp, which chose to condemn the actress just because she expressed solidarity with religious values: "Again, the 'enlightened' and 'liberal' camp shows us how vile and full of hatred it is. If anyone hasn't understood that yet", "Feminism = a woman must adapt her personal beliefs to her husband's job", "Maya Wertheimer was and remains an amazing woman, the 'Kaplanists' who attack her because she prays are the disgrace".

As recalled, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Wertheimer, who had refrained from expressing a political position until that moment, wrote her opinion and went out with her mother to demonstrate on Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv: "The line has been crossed and I am afraid". A few minutes later, her husband, Asaf Zamir, announced his official resignation from his position as Israel's consul in New York.
