Singer and IDF soldier Maya Dadon was tried by her commanders on Sunday after inadvertently revealing her vote for the Likud party during election day. According to sources familiar with the details, she received a reprimand after explaining that she was unaware of the regulations prohibiting soldiers from posting political content on social media.

The incident occurred during the elections for the 26th Knesset, when Dadon shared a photo on her Instagram account from behind a polling booth curtain. Holding a voting envelope with a ballot for the party led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visible, she urged her followers to exercise their democratic right.

Although Dadon noticed the mistake minutes later and quickly deleted the post, replacing it with a similar image where the ballot was properly concealed, she eventually removed that second photo as well.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit issued a statement following the disciplinary hearing: "The soldier in question was tried in accordance with regulations and received a disciplinary verdict accordingly. The IDF is a state-governed, non-political military. There is an absolute prohibition against using the IDF, its uniforms, or its symbols for political purposes, including on social media and within service frameworks."
