Man Indicted in Nazareth Court for Assaulting Wife and Firing at Door
A northern Israel resident was indicted for attacking his wife with a chair over alleged infidelity and firing a shot through their front door as their daughter stood behind it.

A 48-year-old resident of northern Israel has been formally indicted in the Nazareth District Court for violently attacking his wife with a chair and subsequently firing a live round through the front door of their home while their young daughter stood directly behind it.
The criminal indictment, filed by Attorney Noy Shitrit, Deputy Northern District Prosecutor, charges the defendant with aggravated assault, firing a firearm in a residential area, making threats, and illegal weapons possession and transport. According to court documents, the altercation began when the wife confronted her husband after discovering he was involved in an extramarital relationship. In response to the accusation, the man flew into a rage, assaulted her with a chair, inflicted severe bruising, issued verbal threats, and temporarily fled the premises.
The situation escalated dramatically the following day when the husband returned to the residence. Upon finding the door locked and his entry barred by his wife, he pounded heavily on the entrance and threatened her before stepping back. Moments later, a gunshot rang out. A bullet pierced the wooden door and lodged firmly inside the panel.
"Fortunately, the young girl standing on the other side of the door escaped uninjured by sheer miracle before the suspect fled the apartment," said Inspector Avishag Kassa, a lead investigator in the Northern District. Police were alerted via the 100 emergency dispatch line and swiftly deployed patrol officers to the scene, where they collected initial testimony, documented the bullet damage, and launched a manhunt. Within two hours, authorities located and arrested the suspect hiding at a relative's home. While the defendant admitted to committing acts of domestic violence, he vehemently denied firing the weapon. Prosecutors have requested that he remain in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
