Maccabi Tel Aviv Leak Exposes Internal Friction Over Roster Reinforcements
Maccabi Tel Aviv shareholder Richard Deitz leaked internal communications revealing a dispute with sports director Claudio Coldebella over roster reinforcements following Iffe Lundberg's injury.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is looking to bolster its roster amid a difficult period and an injury to guard Iffe Lundberg. In an unprecedented move amid internal ownership friction, shareholder Richard Deitz leaked internal correspondence between club management and sports director Claudio Coldebella.
In an email dated October 25, 2026, Coldebella addressed club owners, highlighting the team's vulnerability in the backcourt following Lundberg's injury and a grueling upcoming schedule through November. "We are in an emergency situation in the guard positions following Iffe Lundberg's injury," Coldebella wrote, noting the financial challenges of playing outside Tel Aviv and rising EuroLeague budgets.
The sports director outlined a preliminary list of potential targets along with estimated financial figures, including Jamar Young, Kamar Baldwin, Killian Hayes—currently in the United States—and Nemanja Nedovic. He also addressed media rumors regarding Tyler Dorsey, confirming that the guard is under contract with Olympiacos.
Following the leak, Deitz pressed Coldebella for actionable recommendations rather than broad reports. "We need practical recommendations we can act on," Deitz wrote, demanding clarity on which player the club should target and how to secure them.
