Maccabi Tel Aviv Suffer Sixth Straight Loss in 88-67 Defeat to Partizan
Maccabi Tel Aviv suffered its sixth straight defeat, losing 88-67 to Partizan Belgrade and dropping to 2-8 in the EuroLeague. The struggles mount as the team prepares for two upcoming derbies against Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Maccabi Tel Aviv suffered its sixth consecutive defeat across all competitions and fourth straight in the EuroLeague, falling 88-67 to Partizan Belgrade. The defeat drops Maccabi to a disappointing 2-8 record after ten rounds, highlighting deep tactical and structural issues within the squad.
Dismal Start and Tactical Struggles
Partizan controlled the game from the opening minutes, capitalizing on a surprising starting lineup chosen by head coach Oded Kattash, which left key players on the bench. The visitors raced to a 23-7 lead. Although Yam Madar and Daniel Theis injected energy to narrow the gap to 28-23 by the end of the first quarter, Partizan pulled away again in the second period, holding Maccabi to just 12 points and taking a 50-35 halftime lead.
Maccabi struggled heavily on both ends of the floor, shooting a meager 5-of-23 from beyond the arc and dishing out only 16 assists compared to Partizan's 27. Meanwhile, Partizan caught fire from long range, draining 14 three-pointers at a 42.4 percent clip. Rotation decisions also raised eyebrows, as Roman Sorkin played less than five minutes and did not return in the second half, while Theis, who led Maccabi with 11 points, sat out the entire fourth quarter.
Rising Pressure Ahead of the Derbies
Guard Caleon Wallace addressed the team's ongoing struggles after the match:
"I know I say this a lot in interviews, but we just need to continue to focus on improving. Right now things are not going the way we want, but the question is how you deal with adversity. We just need to keep moving forward."
Off the court, Maccabi is still searching for a backcourt replacement three weeks after Iffe Lundberg's injury, while ownership disputes add to the turmoil. The Yellow and Blue now face a brutal stretch, preparing for two high-stakes derbies against Hapoel Tel Aviv next week in the Winner Cup final and the EuroLeague.
