Maayan Adam, a Channel 12 presenter and founder of the MAMI customer club, was a guest on the program hosted by Ofer Hadad and Amalia Duek. She addressed the public criticism she faces, her successful business, her work with Minister Miri Regev, and her controversial statement about money.
When asked about her time working with Minister Miri Regev, Adam shared: "We aren't in close contact, but she worries about me whenever bad news arises; she is a very caring person." Adam described the experience as the "opportunity of a lifetime": "I saw how the government works from the inside. Miri Regev is a woman who has shattered glass ceilings, and that served as an inspiration to me."
Career and Motherhood
Maayan admitted that becoming a mother was a turning point in her life. "It affects your career significantly. Suddenly, you have someone to strive for, and you kick into high gear," she explained. Regarding the MAMI consumer club, she added: "Deciding to lead a large organization and achieving things that very few women reach is what keeps me going."
She remains unfazed by public criticism: "Nothing from the outside controls me. Critics won't live my life, so their opinions aren't relevant to how I choose to live. It can hurt, of course, but it doesn't dictate my actions. I believe in surrounding myself with good advisors I can trust."
Intuition and Success
When asked about the secret to her success, Adam was candid: "In most cases, I had more luck than brains. My superpower is intuition. I’ve made mistakes, and I’m still paying for some of them. As you age, you learn who to keep close and who is dangerous. My advice: listen to your body. If you feel discomfort or tension, don't ignore it."
The Pain of Loss
Adam shared the deep pain of losing her sister, the late Mafel Adam, who was murdered at the Nova festival on October 7. "I’m not coping; I don't think it’s possible to cope with this. What keeps me going is work. If I let myself live in that pain, I would stay home and cry all day. It took me a year to realize I couldn't fix this. I might wake up and cry for an hour, but as long as I stay active and focus on raising my three children, I manage to keep going."
"Money Buys Happiness"
Her recent claim on "Good Evening with Guy Pines" sparked a social media firestorm. "We weren't taught about the power of money. Someone wrote to me: 'Maayan, you're wrong; happiness is walking with your child on the promenade.' I replied: 'Sir, if you want to walk with your child on the promenade, you need half a million shekels for one child.' Money isn't a goal; it's a means. From health to education, it is a very powerful tool. Money truly does buy happiness."
