Shot him in the head at close range – and then shouted to the family: "Who shot him?"

The State Attorney's Office has filed an indictment with the Central District Court in Lod against 30-year-old Mahmoud Bashara from Tira, charging him with the premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances of Baker Nasirat and the attempted murder of his cousin. According to the indictment, about a month ago, Bashara shot both victims at close range near their home in Tayibe. Nasirat was killed, and the defendant's cousin sustained serious injuries.

According to the indictment filed by Adv. Hind Nabulsi of the Central District Attorney's Office, Bashara arrived in advance at the courtyard of a house in Tayibe, equipped with two loaded pistols. He covered his face with a shirt, wore gloves, and waited for the victims to arrive. After they pulled up in two vehicles, he rushed toward them with two drawn pistols and fired until he had exhausted all his ammunition.

Initially, the indictment states, Bashara approached the window of the cousin's vehicle and fired several shots at his upper body. He then approached the second vehicle and fired numerous shots at Baker Nasirat, including a shot to the head. Only after he finished shooting and realized he had depleted his ammunition did he flee the scene.

It is further alleged that after the incident, Bashara discarded both pistols, as well as the shirt and gloves, in an abandoned yard. He was located by the police only several days later. According to the indictment, Bashara even attempted to mislead Baker's family members by shouting: "Who shot him?" in an effort to distance himself from the crime.

The indictment charges him with premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances, attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm under aggravating circumstances, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, and obstruction of justice. The prosecution has requested that he remain in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings.

In the detention request, the Central District Attorney's Office argued that the sequence of the defendant's actions indicates prior planning and extreme dangerousness. The prosecution noted that the shooting took place in a public space, in the heart of a dense residential complex, and that the use of two weapons, the close-range firing, and the continuous shooting until the ammunition was exhausted demonstrate the intensity of the intent to kill the victims.
