Mirsham Organization: "Incitement against Rambam medical teams is crossing a red line"

Against the backdrop of the controversy surrounding the treatment of soldiers at Rambam Hospital and claims raised on social media, figures in the healthcare system are coming to the defense of the hospital's teams, warning against damage to public trust. The chairman of the Association of Public Health Physicians, Prof. Hagai Levine, harshly criticized the claims circulated regarding the hospital. According to him, "The libels against Rambam Hospital are sabotaging the entire healthcare system."

"Lies born on social media about the treatment at Rambam are not just 'fake news' — they are a dangerous blood libel aimed at dismantling from within the only system that still functions as an island of sanity and equality in Israel," he said.

Levine argued that when claims circulate about "medical death" or prioritizing the treatment of an enemy over citizens, the damage is not limited to the Arab staff but harms every patient who enters the hospital. He added that elements amplifying this discourse for political considerations are committing a despicable act. "The teams at Rambam — Jews and Arabs — have saved and will continue to save lives, including under fire. The health of us all depends on this trust," he stated.

The Mirsham organization also published a sharp response, arguing that the incitement against the medical teams constitutes "crossing a red line that must be put to an end." The organization emphasized that Israel's healthcare system relies daily on the joint work of Jewish and Arab staff, who treat every person regardless of background. They noted that the system is already struggling with manpower shortages, inadequate salaries, and ongoing burnout.

Mirsham clarified that while criticism of medical treatment is legitimate and necessary, a distinction must be made between such inquiries and attacks on staff members based on their origin or language. "When unproven claims turn into an attack on staff members, and public figures join in, the damage permeates the entire system," the organization stated, calling on health management to stand clearly by the side of the medical personnel who continue to save lives even when they become targets.
