Hapoel Ramat Gan announced on Thursday the signing of goalkeeper Tomer Haran, who has agreed to a one-year deal with an option for an additional season. The 27-year-old arrives at the club following a stint with M.K. Jerusalem, though according to the official statement from the newly promoted Premier League club, he is not currently expected to serve as the first-choice goalkeeper.

The club continues its search for a primary shot-stopper following the injury of Sharif Kayouf. Kayouf was set to join on loan from Maccabi Haifa but sustained an injury during his final match in the green uniform before the transfer. Omer Niron has been mentioned as a potential candidate, alongside the option of signing a foreign goalkeeper.

Haran has experienced several stops in Israel and abroad throughout his career. He grew up in Degania Alef, began his professional path at Bnei Sakhnin, and recorded one appearance in the Premier League. Later, he played in Slovenia, Germany, and reached the first division in Uruguay, where he made 12 appearances for Cerro Largo, keeping five clean sheets. Last season, Haran played for M.K. Jerusalem in Liga Alef South. He now joins the Hapoel Ramat Gan squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Following the signing, Haran said:

"I am happy and excited to join Hapoel Ramat Gan. I love to work hard and be part of a club that aims high. I already feel at home and look forward to the start of the league."
