Hapoel Tel Aviv in talks with former Maccabi Tel Aviv player
The Reds have been in contact recently with Jasiel Rivero, who played for the Yellows for two years. The backup center position is the last one remaining before the roster is finalized. The team is expected to participate in a preseason tournament in Italy — these are the opponents they will face.

Hapoel Tel Aviv is in talks with former Maccabi Tel Aviv player Jasiel Rivero, as learned by "HaYom". The Reds, led by Dimitris Itoudis, are trying to complete their roster and are examining the possibility of adding the Cuban center, with negotiations taking place between the parties in recent times.
The center, who played for Maccabi Tel Aviv between 2023 and 2025, also recently held negotiations with the Yellows, which did not come to fruition. The 32-year-old Rivero (2.06 m) scored points and grabbed 3.1 rebounds in his first season with the Yellows, and in his second season recorded 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
The last position remaining open on the Reds' roster is the backup big man, a role filled by Johnathan Motley last season. Currently, the team's center rotation includes Dan Oturu, Tai Odiase, and Itay Segev, while the search for a replacement for Motley, who left for Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, continues.
On another note, the team is expected to participate in a preseason tournament on September 12–13 in the city of Cagliari, Italy, alongside ASVEL, Bayern Munich, and the new EuroCup team from Rome.
