Bereaved families from the Gaza envelope and southern communities, members of the Heroism Forum, sent a sharp letter to the Prime Minister and cabinet ministers following the decision to allow the entry of international forces into the Gaza Strip.

According to the families, this is a move that could return Israel to security concepts that failed in the past and once again put the security of the country's citizens at risk. In the letter, the families emphasize that the main lesson of October 7 is that the responsibility for Israel's security must remain solely in the hands of the State of Israel and the IDF.

"The security of Israeli citizens cannot be entrusted to any foreign entity. Neither an international force, nor a foreign mechanism, nor any other factor will bear responsibility for the security of Israeli citizens as the State of Israel and the IDF are obligated to. We must not abandon our security to others," they wrote.

They further added that "In a place where the IDF does not hold full security control, a space is created where our enemies strengthen, organize, and harm Israeli citizens. We paid the heavy price of this mistake with the blood of our loved ones, and we will not agree to see the same mistake repeated."

The families also refer to the situation in the Gaza Strip and warn that any move that allows Hamas to re-establish itself will distance the achievement of the war's goals. "While Hamas continues to strengthen militarily and politically, there is no room for promoting moves that grant it time, space, or achievements. The only way to prevent its strengthening is a return to determined fighting until the war's goals are achieved - the dismantling of Hamas's military and governing capabilities and the removal of the threat to Israeli citizens."

At the end of the letter, the families call on the Prime Minister and cabinet ministers to stand by the commitments made to the public throughout the war. "Do not return the State of Israel to concepts that failed. Do not entrust the security of Israeli citizens to foreign forces. Our duty to the fallen and to future generations is to ensure that Israel's security remains in Israeli hands only."
