USA and Saudi Arabia strengthen ties: New cooperation revealed
Against the backdrop of recent nuclear agreements, companies from both countries have signed a strategic partnership to upgrade and secure the kingdom's critical energy and electrical infrastructure.
Patton LLC, an American developer of industrial communication, connectivity, and cybersecurity technologies, announced on Friday a strategic cooperation agreement with alfanar, a leading multinational provider of energy, infrastructure, and digital solutions.
Under the agreement, both parties will promote a joint process focused on the modernization of operational technology and information technology networks that support electrical substations, smart grid infrastructure, and critical energy operations throughout Saudi Arabia.
The partnership, implemented through alfanar Digital Solutions and alfanar eDAS, covers areas such as industrial automation, smart grid modernization, digital substations, and cybersecurity for critical infrastructure. It integrates IIoT architectures compliant with Industry 4.0 standards, secure OT networks, power grid cybersecurity, network segmentation, SCADA policy enforcement, and resilient and reliable substation automation.
The agreement grants alfanar access to Patton's special projects group, as well as to contract development, engineering, and manufacturing services for customized projects that support the changing needs of the kingdom's electrical infrastructure.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of growing cooperation between the USA and Saudi Arabia, including the recent 123 Agreement for peaceful nuclear cooperation. Although there is no connection to nuclear technology, the partnership reflects the broader strength of bilateral trade ties.
