Clubs exchanged contract drafts, Songa awaits visa to Portugal
Hapoel Petah Tikva has agreed on a deal with Moreirense, under which it will receive about 750,000 euros plus a percentage of a future sale. The Zambian is waiting for approval to fly and complete the transfer.
Hapoel Petah Tikva is set to lose one of its leading players, as the deal for the sale of Zambian Chipioka Songa to the Portuguese club Moreirense has been agreed upon and is on the verge of official closure. Contract drafts have already been exchanged, and the player is currently waiting for a visa to Portugal to fly there as soon as the deal is signed.
Negotiations between the clubs lasted for many weeks. Initially, financial gaps were significant, but recently the Portuguese side raised their offer to around 750,000 euros, in addition to a percentage of a future sale, leading Petah Tikva to decide not to stand in the player's way.
Songa will not be included in the squad for tomorrow's match against Bnei Sakhnin in the Toto Cup ranking games, a clear sign that his departure is imminent.
Hapoel Petah Tikva had been looking for a foreign defender to strengthen the squad, and now they must also find an additional winger to fill the void left by Songa.
Regarding domestic players, the loan deal for midfielder Itay Ehud from Maccabi Haifa is expected to be finalized soon. The contract will include a condition regarding the amount of playing time the player must receive, ensuring Petah Tikva does not have to pay a loan fee if the target is not met.
