Hezbollah Secretary-General: "Iran Won, Memorandum Will Accelerate IDF Withdrawal"

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem sent a message to the nation in Lebanon today, Tuesday, during a speech marking the fortieth day of Imam Hussein. He declared that "the path of the memorandum of understanding will accelerate the Israeli withdrawal," adding that "thanks to the steadfastness of the resistance, none of this would have been realized."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has won, and there is no longer any room to talk about the question of who won the confrontation," Qassem stated.

In his view, the systematic destruction occurring in villages and towns in the south should be grounds for ending the dialogue with Israel, as he claims all aggression against Lebanon was carried out "under American supervision, under American management, and with American consent." Furthermore, Qassem criticized the direct negotiations taking place between Jerusalem and Beirut, which he said "brought Lebanon nothing but disgrace, humiliation, disappointment, and continuous concessions."

Qassem pointed out that this is a political achievement for Israel, but promised the Lebanese people that "as long as the resistance exists, Israel will not achieve results on the ground." He called on everyone to unite around national unity and the rejection of occupation. During his statement, he sent a message to Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, emphasizing the importance of "maintaining relations of brotherhood and cooperation between Lebanon and Syria."

In parallel, the Saudi channel Al-Hadath reported that the Lebanese delegation will focus today in the Rome talks on "Israeli violations." Official sources in Lebanon told the Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the Lebanese delegation in Rome, led by former ambassador Simon Karam, is broader this time and includes military personnel, diplomats, border demarcation experts, and jurists.

The purpose of sending the expanded delegation is to ensure the presence of experts for every file that may arise, as Lebanon is careful to arrive prepared, especially given that "the Israeli side has tried in the past to place obstacles." The sources added that "Lebanon pins hopes on the United States, as the most influential factor, to exert pressure on Israel for rapid withdrawals from the south, against the backdrop of real fears that Israel will continue to stall."
