The replacement for Kangwa: AEK Athens reached an agreement with Lovro Majer

After missing out on Kings Kangwa, who officially reached an agreement with Panathinaikos and will join them after Hapoel Be'er Sheva's match on Wednesday against Víkingur, AEK Athens has already found a replacement. According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, the Greek team has reached a verbal agreement with Wolfsburg for the acquisition of Lovro Majer.
AEK will pay more than 6 million euros for the 28-year-old Croatian midfielder, who is expected to arrive in Greece later this week to undergo medical examinations and sign his contract.
Majer was acquired by Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023 from Rennes for about 25 million euros, but failed to meet expectations in Germany. Now he is expected to start a new chapter in his career with AEK, which will be strengthened by a player with rich international experience, including appearances for the Croatian national team in the World Cup.
AEK was very close to signing Kangwa from Hapoel Be'er Sheva, but the deal collapsed after the Greek club tried to change its terms. Panathinaikos took advantage of the developments, entered the picture, and reached an agreement with the Zambian midfielder, who will join them after the return leg of the Israeli champion against the Icelandic champion in the Champions League qualifiers.
