Chairman of the Basketball Association asked the FIBA president to return games to Israel

The Basketball Association is actively working to return the national team's games to Israel, and a significant step was taken on Wednesday with an official appeal. The chairman of the Basketball Association, Amos Frishman, wrote to the president of FIBA Europe, Jorge Garbajosa, requesting approval to host the Israeli national team's games at home during the upcoming November window.
In his letter, Frishman emphasized the stability and calm in the region during this period, arguing that the time has come for the Israeli crowd to support the national team on home soil, just like the rest of the teams on the continent. Frishman also offered to host FIBA leadership in Israel so they could witness the reality of life in the country and the ongoing routine. He and the association's staff are prepared to assist the guests and address any questions regarding future hosting.
Garbajosa's response arrived promptly. The FIBA president clarified that the authority to decide on World Cup qualifying games lies with the FIBA Executive Committee (ExCo). Garbajosa committed to adding Frishman's request to the agenda for the next board meeting, expected to take place next week, and to provide an update immediately thereafter.
The Basketball Association hopes that the upcoming discussion will bring positive news, ending the period of "exile" for Israeli national team home games in the European arena. The national team's last home game took place over three years ago, in February 2023.
