Dr. Hussein al-Shara, the father of Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, posted on Facebook in the last day against the Israeli strike on the Abu al-Duhur airport, and threatened that the Golan Heights would pass into Syrian hands "sooner or later."

The father is currently in his 80s. In his youth, he was identified with the Nasserist movement and went into exile against the backdrop of the Ba'ath Party coup. On one hand, Hussein al-Shara supported the overthrow of the Assad regime and the revolution led by his son, but on the other hand, he criticized the new government's economic policy, which included privatizations in the public sector. Although he does not hold an official political position, the post he wrote received widespread resonance on social networks and in major Arab media outlets.

"Israel - our main problem"

"The truth that Syrians must not forget after the success of the revolution is that our main problem is with Israel. This enemy has continued to act for 80 years against Syria's stability, against its territorial integrity, and against its ongoing development."

He added: "We saw that after the success of the revolution, Israel carried out about 1,000 airstrikes against all military sites and destroyed them. It advanced several kilometers beyond the 1974 disengagement lines. Then it occupied Mount Hermon and established a large observation post. It entered villages and killed Syrian citizens. Israel still threatens and has bombed in the past the Syrian Ministry of Defense, the Republic Palace, and military airports."

According to him, "The goal is clear: Israel does not want a stable Syria. This Israeli aggression continues without any regard for the position of Damascus, which shows patience and refrains from blowing up the region and responding to the aggression due to reasons related to the international situation. But Israel should know that the fighting Syrians will not continue this behavior."

Hussein al-Shara threatened that "the Syrian people can establish fighting forces within days in numbers you do not grasp. This enemy must know that our flesh is bitter. We have occupied land called the Golan Heights and we will return it — sooner or later. The new Syrian state knows how to manage the matter of resistance to aggression. They are the vengeful masters with the honor of the people and the nation, so do not test our patience."
