CEO of the "Peace Council" in Gaza: Hamas and armed factions have agreed to surrender their weapons

For the first time, Hamas and the armed factions in Gaza have agreed to surrender their weapons and transfer full governing authority, both civil and security, to a government recognized by the UN, claimed Nickolay Mladenov, CEO of the "Peace Council," this evening (Wednesday).
Last month, the Security Cabinet approved the launch of the pilot phase of the plan to introduce the "Peace Council" into the Gaza Strip, as part of a broader move to restore basic services, humanitarian aid, and establish civil infrastructure in areas not under Hamas control. During the discussion in the Security Cabinet, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich supported the move, while Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir opposed it.
According to the approved plan, the first phase will begin in the Rafah area. As part of the project, temporary structures will be built to house Palestinian residents, alongside the renewal of basic services and humanitarian aid. Anyone wishing to reside in the complexes will undergo a strict security screening process, intended to ensure they do not belong to Hamas or other terrorist organizations. As part of the discussion, the cabinet also approved the entry of an international stabilization force into Gaza, as part of the preparations for implementing the plan on the ground.
