A tour conducted by the Minister of National Security within the walls of Damon Prison led to a tense meeting between him and security prisoners, who complained to him about the revocation of benefits and the worsening of their living conditions in recent months. Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir conducted a comprehensive visit to Damon Prison in recent weeks. During the tour, the minister received an extensive briefing from the prison commanders and spoke with the prison guards.
The focus of the tour took place in the secure wing where female terrorists are held, including operatives belonging to the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. The minister entered the cells and met the prisoners. According to the minister's office, during the tense meeting, the terrorists confronted the minister with a series of complaints regarding the strict incarceration conditions applied to them, and protested strongly against the revocation of a variety of benefits and comfort items that were customary in the Prison Service in the past.
The minister replied to the prisoners while making a comparison to the situation of the Israelis held in Hamas captivity in Gaza. "Our hostages did not have shampoo and they did not have conditions," said Ben Gvir to them, adding: "I am proud that we managed to lower the conditions of the terrorists to the minimum of the minimum. The summer camps in the prisons are over."
"I came to see up close the implementation of our policy," concluded Minister Ben Gvir at the end of the visit. "I heard the prison guards and also the complaints of the terrorists. We do not apologize - whoever harms the citizens of Israel will not get a summer camp in prison. Terrorists will receive the minimum that the law requires, and nothing more."
