A report published by Sky News claimed that IDF soldiers delayed a Palestinian ambulance carrying a woman in advanced pregnancy for more than 30 minutes at a checkpoint near the village of Awarta, following a terror attack that occurred in the area. According to the report, the forces even ordered the ambulance engine and the medical equipment inside to be turned off.

It was alleged that during the delay, the woman gave birth to a stillborn baby inside the ambulance. It was further reported that after arriving at the hospital, she underwent emergency surgery that saved her life, but the doctors were unable to save the fetus.

However, the IDF completely rejects these claims and presents a completely different picture of the event. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated that following the terror attack that occurred on July 24, and following a situational assessment in the sector, a temporary closure was imposed on the city of Nablus. Within this framework, on Monday, July 27, dozens of ambulances passed through the crossings into the city without incident.

It was further stated that the ambulance in question arrived at the crossing near the village of Awarta without having performed the required security coordination in advance, and therefore the force operating at the site conducted a check that lasted only a few minutes. After completing the check, the ambulance continued on its way into the city of Nablus.

The IDF emphasized that the organization operates on an ongoing basis to facilitate the movement of medical teams, and that ambulances that coordinate their passage in advance even pass without inspection.

"There is no intention to delay medical treatment or medical evacuation," the IDF stated.
