The racist doctor from Ramle apologizes? 'I hurt many, my grandchildren are mixed'
Dr. Dubi Laxman, who compared Likud voters to monkeys, was suspended from Assuta and Maccabi. In a new post, he apologizes for his remarks while refusing to retract his underlying political assessments.

Dr. Dubi Laxman, a senior physician and surgeon at the Assuta network, published an extremely racist post directed at Likud voters, in which they were called "baboons," "chimpanzees," "gorillas," and "orangutans." Laxman described Likud voters as "mostly Mizrahi, Moroccan dominance, market stall owners, violent, simple-minded, consumed by rage and feelings of inferiority." When this became known to the Assuta network, they summoned him for a hearing, which resulted in his suspension.
In a new post on his Facebook account, he offered an apology:
"First of all, the post was written in a pre-election atmosphere with the goal of annoying and trolling. I did not correctly estimate the resonance the words would receive, and in this, I erred. It turns out the words touched a raw nerve."
Laxman spoke about his suspension from his workplaces:
"You will surely be happy to know that the consequences of my post are that I was suspended from my activities at Assuta and Maccabi (applaud). From my perspective, at my advanced age, this is a 'small blow to the wing' professionally or economically, but it teaches that even value-based institutions have fallen prostrate before the architects of the 'market' culture in the leadership and the public."
The doctor did not retract his core claims: "I wrote that right-wing voters are 'baboons'—this is a term common on the networks. Counter-use of the expressions 'Ashkenazi,' 'Hitler,' 'Mengele,' and more is no less disturbing, perhaps even more so. Does anyone make an issue out of that? I wrote 'Mizrahim'—was I factually wrong? I wrote 'Moroccan dominance'—was I factually wrong? I did not incite violence at all."
Laxman further clarified:
"One way or another—not for the purpose of a 'pardon' at Assuta and Maccabi (at my age, I took advantage of the event to begin a life of peace and rest, and I should be grateful for that), I express an apology because I realized that I hurt too many people. And for that, I am sorry. I am not a racist. In my family, there are mixed couples, and my grandchildren (sweet as honey) are mixed."
"I repeat my apology. I do not expect anyone to accept it or believe it. I am pained by the fact of the looting of the country by extreme dark forces. Most of you will not even understand what I am talking about; you are too young. I do not believe I will live to see the revival of this fractured people. I hope that you will," he concluded.
