Major Yuval Ezra, killed in terror attack near Nablus, laid to rest

Major Yuval Ezra from Herzliya was laid to rest today, Sunday, at the military cemetery in Beit Dagan. Yuval was killed in a terror attack that took place on the outskirts of the village of Tel in the Nablus area during a hiking trip by a group of Israelis.

The terrorist's fire killed Staff Sergeant (res.) Benyahu Malet (32), a resident of Havat Gilad and a father of two who was a member of the rapid response team, and Major Yuval Ezra (27), a battery commander in the 411th Artillery Battalion. Two other civilians were wounded in the incident, one of whom was evacuated by helicopter in serious condition.

Yuval's mother said at his funeral:

"My Yuvalush, I cannot believe I am sitting and writing to you. Your constant smile that never left your lips... there was no one who did not fall in love with you immediately. You touched so many people, you influenced and loved it so much. You are in our hearts forever, we said goodbye at Shura, I kissed you, I love you my boy. Thank you."

Timor, Yuval's fiancée, eulogized him through tears:

"My love, you were my whole world and I was your whole world. Thank you for the most beautiful years you gave me. Thank you for being the best friend, the best lover, and the best son to your parents—which is what made me fall in love with you. Everyone loved you, you know that."

Ariel, his older brother, said:

"We were like twin brothers, he was the best friend in the world. He is the pride of the house. A hero of Israel, a role model. The number of people here proves what we already knew."

His sister recounted that he was supposed to marry Timor this year: "Now it is impossible to digest that instead of a year of joy, we are entering a year of mourning for you." Yuval's mother, Tanya, told Channel 12 News about the marriage proposal at HaTzuk beach and the family's preparations for the wedding, which had been scheduled for June of next year.
