Maccabi Tel Aviv to begin negotiations for Kanikovski, price yet to be determined
The State Cup holder wants to bring the midfielder back to its ranks after only one year, but he will not settle for less than 600,000 euros net on a three-year contract, which is what he earns currently in Hungary. Ferencvaros is expected to demand a high sum despite the fact that he arrived without a transfer fee. Status report.

Gabi Kanikovski is expected to start tomorrow (Thursday) in the Ferencvaros lineup against Trabzonspor in the first of two matches in the Europa League playoffs. Kanikovski started the day before yesterday in his team's league match and was substituted in the 63rd minute, apparently also to avoid overloading him before the big game of the Hungarians against Mohamed Salah's new team.
At Ferencvaros, they do not rule out negotiations this morning with Maccabi Tel Aviv regarding the midfielder's transfer, but they want to hear first that Maccabi Tel Aviv and Kanikovski have agreed on the terms of the player's contract for the coming years, and only then will they begin to talk with Maccabi Tel Aviv about the transfer fee.
Kanikovski will not settle for less than 600,000 euros net on a three-year contract. This is the salary he has in Hungary for the next two years, and to this must be added the taxes he will have to pay for the past season in Hungary if he returns this summer to Israel.
Therefore, at Ferencvaros, they will not start talking with Maccabi Tel Aviv about the purchase price before they hear that the club and Kanikovski have agreed on his contract, and in any case, it will not be easy for Maccabi Tel Aviv to lower the amounts that the Hungarians are talking about.
Although Kanikovski arrived at their club on a free transfer, on the Transfermarkt website his value is estimated at four million euros, and this will be the opening shot of the Hungarians in the negotiations. Despite this, it is clear that even for two million euros there is a high chance that they will sell.
Either way, it will be a complicated story for Maccabi Tel Aviv if in the end the player, who could have signed a contract a year ago for around 500,000 euros net, arrives on a higher contract and Maccabi Tel Aviv also adds, as mentioned, a significant purchase fee for him.
