Hamas calls on mediators to intervene with Israel to save ceasefire
Hamas claims that Israeli escalation is hindering the implementation of the ceasefire and has urged mediators to intervene. Meanwhile, the Palestinian technocratic committee is preparing for the second phase, including arrangements for weapons storage and a new police mechanism.
A senior Hamas official told the Qatari channel Al Jazeera that the organization has contacted mediators to demand a clear stance regarding recent Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip. According to the official, Hamas has requested that mediators intervene directly to compel Israel to adhere to the ceasefire.
"We emphasized to the mediators that the ongoing aggression makes it difficult to implement the agreement and to negotiate regarding the timelines," the official added.
A source in the Palestinian technocratic committee told the newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi today that arrangements are underway to advance the ceasefire agreement and move to the second phase. Meetings have been held over the past two days to discuss the technical details of the Hamas weapons storage file.
Additionally, the source revealed that preparations are being made for a group of candidates to leave Gaza for training in the technocratic committee's new police mechanism. The goal is to train them in methods of collecting and storing the weapons of terrorist organizations. This group will maintain contact with senior figures in Palestinian terrorist organizations and the committee's security portfolio supervisor.
According to the report, the committee's weapons collection group will oversee the storage of arms in designated locations, away from any Israeli role.
The source stated that the committee will serve as the central body during the implementation phase if plans proceed as expected. Committee members, including head Ali Shaath, remain in Cairo and are fully prepared to enter the Gaza Strip and assume management duties, pending consent from Israeli authorities.
