Guitarist Mati Gurion has passed away
Mati Gurion, son of musician Israel Gurion, passed away this evening. His mother Miki wrote on social media: 'Rest in peace my beloved, my heart is crying.'
Guitarist Mati Gurion, son of musician and creator Israel Gurion, passed away this evening (Friday) after a prolonged struggle with a serious illness. The news of his passing has caused great pain among his family members, friends, and musicians who worked alongside him over the years.
Mati's mother, Miki Gurion, announced the difficult news in a post she published on social media:
"Our dear son Mati Gurion passed away this evening. Rest in peace my beloved, my heart is crying."
Over the years, Mati worked as a guitar player and closely accompanied various musical projects. During his professional career, he played alongside his father on stage and took part in tribute shows for the songs of the "HaDuda'im" duo, maintaining a consistent musical presence and continuing his family's musical legacy through his playing.
Partner to the stage and the "HaDuda'im" legacy
The father, 90-year-old Israel Gurion, holds an extensive career spanning more than six decades. He gained his main fame as part of the "HaDuda'im" duo, which he founded in 1958 with the late Benny Amdursky, a group that became one of the most prominent in Hebrew song and recorded dozens of well-known songs.
In addition to "HaDuda'im", Israel was active in groups such as the "Gesher HaYarkon Trio" and "HaTov, HaRa VeHaNa'ara". At the same time, he built a career as an actor, pantomimist, and director, and participated in children's television programs such as "3, 4, 5 and a Half", "Ma Pitom?", and other series.
