The drama continues: Brad Pitt's new demand from Angelina Jolie
Eight years after the divorce, the struggle over the Brangelina winery is not over. According to reports from overseas, Pitt is requesting documents on Jolie's income from 2017 to 2021 in order to challenge her claims of financial independence.
It seemed that the struggles between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over the French winery they own, Chateau Miraval, were nearing their end, but now it appears the two are still far from an agreement. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Pitt claims that Jolie is refusing to provide information about her income from 2017 to 2021, while he attempts to challenge her claim that she put her career on hold after their separation in 2016.
Jolie, for her part, argues that Pitt has no right to receive this information.
"The question is not whether Jolie needed the money — the question is that she was trying to cut off her life and her finances from her controlling and abusive ex-husband," Jolie's lawyer stated in the documents. "This distinction makes all the difference."
According to Pitt, his team asked Jolie to provide information about advance payments she received for her work as an actress and producer, up to the period when, according to her, she realized she needed to sell Chateau Miraval to achieve financial independence. Last May, the actress scored a significant victory when the court rejected Pitt's demand to disclose her private email correspondence.
We recall that the two have been involved in a dispute over the winery for a long time, after Jolie sold her share in the property worth $64 million in 2021. Pitt claimed that the actress carried out the sale despite a previous agreement between them, according to which neither of them would sell their share in the property without the consent of the other party.
The legal dispute between the two comes against the backdrop of the ongoing family rift. Although Pitt and Jolie officially divorced about two years ago, it seems the children are still taking sides: last June, their son Knox joined his other siblings and also removed the surname Pitt. The two have six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne — and now all of them have completely given up their father's name.
