A day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern 'Don't' to the Turks, Ankara has responded with a further escalation of diplomatic tensions. Turkey has initiated the issuance of a 'Red Notice' against Netanyahu for 'genocide' as part of an ongoing trial regarding the interception of a flotilla bound for Gaza.
Turkish Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunc announced that, following the arrest warrant issued on July 14, the Ministry of Justice has requested the Ministry of Interior to issue a Red Notice for an international arrest, with relevant documents now transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Last night, Netanyahu held a security consultation with the heads of the intelligence and security establishments to discuss regional developments, primarily focusing on Syria and the friction with Turkey. The meeting took place against the backdrop of a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Defense, which, while denying that a Turkish delegation was present at a base recently attacked in Syria, declared its intention to continue supporting the Assad regime with 'determination'—a policy that deeply concerns Israel, which fears Turkish entrenchment in the country.
