Tax Authority Revolutionizes Customs: "Strengthening Enforcement and Inspection"
At a festive ceremony, the cornerstone was laid for an advanced facility that will upgrade security enforcement and inspection capabilities at the Port of Ashdod. Which senior officials from the Authority attended the event and when is construction expected to be completed?
The Tax Authority held a cornerstone-laying ceremony today, Thursday, for the new inspection facility at the Ashdod Customs House, a strategic project designed to significantly upgrade inspection and enforcement capabilities at the Port of Ashdod. The ceremony was held in the presence of the Director of the Tax Authority, Shay Aharonovich, the Deputy Director of the Tax Authority and Head of the Customs Directorate, Kfir Chen, the Director of the Ashdod Customs House, Gil Haziz, and other dignitaries.
Completion of the facility and its planned operation are expected during the month of November 2027. The new inspection facility will integrate advanced technological means and will allow for a significant improvement in customs inspection capabilities. Upon its completion, the facility is expected to triple the security inspection capacity, streamline work processes, shorten cargo handling times, and improve service for the public of importers and exporters, in accordance with advanced international standards.

The new facility is expected to contribute both to increasing security at trade crossings and to improving the flow of goods at the port, while balancing effective enforcement with the facilitation of legal trade.
The Director of the Ashdod Customs House, Gil Haziz, stated:
"The establishment of the new inspection facility is a central pillar in strengthening the enforcement and inspection capabilities of the customs and in supporting the trade activity of the State of Israel. The project expresses the Tax Authority's commitment to innovation, efficiency, and the provision of 'professional, advanced, and high-quality service'."
