Latet Reports 32% Surge in Food Aid Demand Ahead of Israeli Holidays
The Latet organization reports a 32% surge in demand for food aid in Israel. Backed by major corporations and philanthropic funds, the holiday campaign aims to distribute over 30,000 food packages to families in need.

The holiday aid campaign by the Latet organization is currently underway, drawing widespread mobilization from Israel's leading business corporations, including Shufersal, Wolt, Strauss Group, Osem-Nestle, and others. The initiative also integrates philanthropic foundations, corporate employees, and volunteers to support families and populations facing severe economic distress and food insecurity.
Rising Demand for Food Assistance
This year's campaign is launched against the backdrop of a 32% increase in demand for food assistance, reflecting the deepening economic hardship among many Israeli households. The operation encompasses food and monetary donations, packaging events, public and corporate fundraising, and digital platform collaborations.
Over its 30 years of activity, the Latet organization has assisted approximately 250,000 families struggling with poverty and food insecurity, delivering cumulative aid valued at approximately 2.25 billion NIS.
Corporate Volunteering and Digital Integration
A central pillar of the campaign is the "Donors Pack" project, featuring packaging events held at various corporate offices across the country, as well as at Latet's main logistical center in Beit Shemesh. Employees of partner companies participate in packing thousands of food boxes, while the corporations themselves donate and help fund the food baskets.
Key corporate partners this year include Osem-Nestle, Strauss Group, Clal Insurance and Finance, ICL, Bank Yahav, Harel Insurance, Schestowitz, and others.
Simultaneously, leading digital platforms are leveraging their online assets to facilitate public donations. Through collaborations with Shufersal, bit, Wolt, and other services, the public can easily contribute directly to purchasing food packages for families in need.
Philanthropic Support
Alongside corporate and public mobilization, the aid campaign is heavily backed by philanthropic foundations. Key contributors funding the expanded operations include the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (The Fellowship), CBN, the Azrieli Foundation, and other partners.
In total, Latet expects to prepare and distribute over 30,000 food packages during this holiday season, reaching supported families and the elderly through the organization's nationwide network of partner NGOs.
Eran Weintrob, Executive Director of Latet, stated:
"Our ability to reach tens of thousands of families during the holidays relies on a broad partnership between the public, the business sector, and philanthropy. At a time when the demand for assistance is rising and more families are struggling with the high cost of living, every donation, volunteer hour, and collaboration has tangible meaning. The mobilization we are seeing allows us to turn mutual responsibility into action, ensuring that as many families as possible can celebrate the holiday with dignity."
