National Insurance Institute to Advance Benefit Payments on September 8

The Tishrei holidays are approaching, and the National Insurance Institute is announcing important news for hundreds of thousands of Israelis: unemployment and income support payments for the month of August will be advanced to September 8, 2026, just before the start of the new year.
Unemployment benefits
This allowance is intended for salaried employees who were dismissed or resigned under circumstances equivalent to dismissal and have accumulated a qualifying period of 12 months of work out of the last 18 months. The payment amount is derived from the employee's gross salary in the six months preceding unemployment and is limited by a daily ceiling. The average amount is thousands of shekels per month and can reach a maximum of about 12,000 shekels, depending on the employee's age, past salary, and family status.
Income support
An allowance designed to provide a financial safety net for those who have no income or whose income from work is below the minimum threshold required for subsistence. Those eligible are usually unemployed individuals who report to the employment office regularly or workers earning a meager wage. The amount of the allowance varies significantly depending on family composition: a single person without children will receive from about 1,800 shekels per month, while families with children or single parents may receive an allowance of more than 4,000 shekels.
