Ex-Maccabi Netanya player disappears: "We haven't heard from him for several days"

Lameck Banda is well remembered by Israeli football fans from his time at Maccabi Netanya and Maccabi Petah Tikva between 2020 and 2022. After his success with the Petah Tikva side, he was sold directly to the Italian club Lecce, and in recent days he has been causing quite a stir in Italy.

Amid reports regarding his future at the Serie A club, where Omri Gandelman also plays, the Zambian winger simply did not arrive for the team's pre-season. At first, he claimed it was due to logistical and bureaucratic issues, but it quickly became clear that this was not the story.

This evening (Sunday), Stefano Trinchera, the club's technical director, confirmed this to 'Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia': "Unfortunately, we have not heard from him for several days. The club has chosen a certain path—to summon him to training—announced it in an official statement, and will continue to act accordingly until the end."

"We continue to summon Banda for medical examinations, but we have not received any response. We will see how long this lasts. However, it is certain that the boy will face the consequences for his behavior," added Stefano Trinchera.

"To say that we are disappointed is an understatement. We have always been very open towards Lameck Banda, and even in some personal matters, we have always supported him. For this reason as well, his behavior has surprised everyone," he concluded with disappointment.
